Solar-Powered Backhaul Commissioning at a Remote BTS Site
Integrating BTS transmission equipment, microwave antenna alignment and off-grid solar power in a single coordinated field deployment.
The Challenge
The site required a fully operational microwave backhaul link at a remote base station location with no reliable grid power. The deployment had to integrate BTS transmission equipment, multi-dish antenna alignment and a solar power system — all within a single field mobilization to minimize cost and time on site.
The Solution
Acel mobilized a field team to survey, install and commission the complete site in one coordinated deployment. The team erected the microwave antenna pole, aligned and commissioned the backhaul dishes, integrated the solar panel array with battery storage and charge controller, and completed all cabling and earthing to site acceptance standard. BTS transmission equipment was installed and verified against the operator's network parameters before handover.
Deliverables
- Site survey and readiness assessment
- Microwave antenna pole erection and mounting
- Multi-dish backhaul antenna installation and alignment
- BTS transmission equipment installation and commissioning
- Solar panel array installation and integration
- Battery storage and charge controller commissioning
- Earthing, surge protection and cabling
- Site acceptance testing and handover documentation
The Result
The site was delivered fully operational — with a commissioned microwave backhaul link, verified BTS transmission and a reliable off-grid solar power system — within a single field mobilization. The deployment demonstrated Acel's ability to coordinate multi-discipline field work at remote sites with no grid infrastructure.
